William Branham, the deceased central figure of the "Message" cult whose doctrinal teachings Carapella promotes stood firmly against physical exercise. According to Branham, exercise is not only "stupid", it is "sinful".

I ask that You'll pardon us of our sins, and take away our—our—our transgression. And forgive us for being so stupid, for the stupidity of the people. How we have come short! How we have taken bodily exercise! How we have done things that we ought not to have done! How we have sinned before You!

For several years, Matthew Carapella and associate "Message" cult preacher Steven Ravbar have been terrorizing the women of London. According to the London Free Press, Carapella were also charged with disrupting Christian services in local London neighborhoods.

Monday's criminal charge is the latest against Carapella, who has gained notoriety in recent years along with Steven Ravbar, 51, for their aggressive preaching on London street corners and incendiary comments aimed mostly at women. Both men were charged last year following an incident on April 7 when two men disrupted a sermon at Elmwood Avenue Presbyterian Church in London's Old South neighbourhood.
