COVID-19 Overturning Branham Prophecy Concerning Rome

March 12, 2021

"Message" cult pastors have for years parroted William Branham's "prophecies" concerning Rome and the end of the world.  Branham predicted that Rome would eventually hold the wealth of the world, and the nations would not be able to "buy or sell" unless "selling their birthright" by becoming Catholic.  (A notion promoted by many leaders of the Ku Klux Klan).

"Well, who has got the wealth of the world? Who holds it? [Someone says, “Rome.”—Ed.] Sure, it does. Rome holds it. And whenever we do, when we get broke, instead of these big merchants, tobacco, whiskey, and so forth, like…Have to get the money; what we’ll have to do, either change the currency or borrow the money. And, when they do, it’s the birthright sold right back, exactly, just as perfect, and just what the Scripture says about it."
Branham, William. 1963, November 28. Testimony (63-1128M).

COVID-19 appears to be overturning this prophecy.  Like all other nations of the world, the global pandemic has taken its toll on Rome's economy.

The Vatican warned Friday that it has nearly depleted its financial reserves from past donations to cover budget deficits over recent years, as it urged continued giving from the faithful to keep the Holy See afloat and Pope Francis’ ministry going. The Vatican published its 2021 budget in its latest effort at greater financial transparency amid a predicted 50 million euro budget deficit this year. The aim is to reassure donors that their money is being well spent, following years of mismanagement that is currently the focus of a Vatican corruption investigation.  - Associated Press
