Voice of God Recordings Recruiting Through Sports

Wiliam Branham's "Message" cult leaders have launched a campaign to improve their public image through sports.  While several cult churches worldwide condemn participating in sports, based loosely on William Branham's statements condemning other churches for "things of the world", cult leaders from Voice of God Recordings appear to be using local boxing events as an opportunity to lure unsuspecting recruits.

Branham himself used boxing as part of his own stage persona.  Describing the success of his brother, Henry Branham,  and replacing the name "Henry" with himself, William Branham claimed to have been an undefeated prizefighter.  

And I used to be a boxer. I had the undefeated title of Bantamweight Championship of the three states, so--and know what grip is.

According to Jeremy Voyles, Voice of God Recordings is using boxing to target young athletes.  The gym has been converted to a "ministry-based" operation, and its website has been updated to reflect the recruiting.

At that point we decided to turn our gym into a ministry-based one,” Voyles said.  According to its website, Jeff City Boxing is a “boxing gym that is dedicated to teaching integrity to the community of Jeffersonville through hard work, devotion, and most importantly, faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.”In addition to a number of amateur and professional fighters who train in the gym, there is also a focus on the younger athletes.
