Episode 5 Overview:
This episode examines the formation of the William Branham Evangelistic Association, its unusual beginnings, and a glimpse into its unusual activities. According to Sarah Branham's letter, "Take It With You", Billy Paul Branham "appeared before a Notary Public as William Branham transferring the William Branham Evangelistic Association into another corporation. " shortly before his Rev. William Branham's death in 1965. Meda Branham allegedly confirmed that Billy Paul forged the signature in order to "give him power and access over the money". Gerald Lee Walker began collecting government documents to verify Sarah's claim and Meda's alleged claim, which Walker appeared to confirm through the evidence collected.
It also examines Walker's findings when looking through the corporate filings for Voice of God Recordings and William Branham Evangelistic Association. According to Walker, VOGR was established to "funnel money" to other organizations, setting the stage for a much deeper investigation into the business entities and high-ranking cult members connected to the money trail. It was with this foundational evidence that Walker discovered "big names" involved with racketeering and moving money, such as Wayne Evans who served prison time for moving several hundred thousand dollars through the business entities.
Last, it examines the unusual choice of cult leaders and what happens when they are crossed. From Eddy Corado's being terminated after finding out that cult elites were having sexual affairs to Willard Collins who apparently was chosen as Pastor of the Branham Tabernacle for believing Billy Paul was the son of a god and later resigning from duties along with the entire staff of deacons after accusing Billy Paul and Joseph Branham of stealing to the church, the events in the history of the "Message" cult are truly stranger than fiction.
