Jones/Branham Sermons Withheld by VOGR

September 26, 2021

Deep into a collaborative research project between William Branham Historical Research and Alternative Considerations of Jonestown & Peoples Temple (https://jonestown.sdsu.edu), it has been determined that Voice of God Recordings is withholding several publications, advertisements, recordings and transcripts for joint campaigns between Rev. Jim Jones of Peoples Temple, William Branham, and other leaders of Branham's sect.  Several sermons are conveniently missing from the Branham archives housed at https://table.branham.org and several issues of The Voice of Healing are conveniently removed from all but one identified archive.  That source, to be revealed in upcoming weeks, is the only one we have found to date with the missing issues and is not easily accessible.

When Jim Jones parted ways with the main sect of the Assemblies of God to join William Branham, A. W. Rasmussen, Joseph Mattsson-Boze, and other Voice of Healing/Latter Rain "healing" revivalists, Willam Branham launched Jones' career by holding several meetings inside Peoples Temple for morning services[1] and at the Cadle Tabernacle in Indianapolis, IN.  Shortly prior to the launch of Jones' career with the Branham campaigns, Jones became a "Voice of Healing Evangelist" and was advertised in the June issue of Branham's Newsletter, The Voice of Healing.[2] From June 11 to 15, there were three services to be held; morning services at Peoples Temple and William Branham was to speak in the evening services at Cadle Tabernacle.  Sect leaders A. W. Rassmussen, Joseph Mattsson-Boze, David Duplessis, and others were to speak during the afternoon services.  When we initially published that information several years ago and confirmed that these recordings were "missing", Voice of God Recordings happily stated they were "misfiled" and the evening services from June 11 to 15 were suddenly "identified".

But this was just one of several joint campaigns by Jim Jones and William Branham.

After becoming a "Message" minister and "Voice of Healing Evangelist", Rev. Jim Jones began sponsoring the Branham campaigns in multiple states.  The next of the collaborative revivals we have identified is in October of 1956 in Chicago from October 1-4.  When Branham announced Jones as the host at Chicago, he also mentioned that they had held similar campaigns in Canada.[3] If those were also hosted by Jones, that would place Jones with Branham in mid-August, 1956, in Prince Albert, SK.  This would fit the timeline; After those meetings, Joseph Mattsson-Boze advertized Jim Jones in his Herald of Faith magazine the very next month and announced that Jones would be hosting the Branham Campaigns at the upcoming World Convention of Pentecostal Churches in 1957.  In the article, Boze said that Jones was the host of the convention "just held".[4]

As was the case in 1956, the 1957 meetings that Jim Jones sponsored were held at Peoples Temple in the mornings,[5] and at Cadle Tabernacle in the afternoon and evening services.  William Branham's participation was increased, however.  It was announced that Branham would be speaking at both the afternoon and evening services from June 11-15, 1957.[6]

It should come as no surprise that Jones' name has been also been erased from most sermons from the Indianapolis, Canada, and Chicago meetings in 1956 and 1957.  Voice of God Recordings has misfiled one sermon (Faith Once Delivered to the Saints, 57-0610), listing Branham as speaking on a day in which he was not participating.  At the same time, there are FIVE sermons missing from the Jones/Branham campaign in 1957.
