Violence In The Branham Campaigns
Multiple newspaper articles during the early years of the 1947 version of Branham's stage persona describe violence in the Branham campaigns. Such is the case with Mr. A. F. Wilbee, who was forcibly ejected from Branham's meetings in Vernon, BC. Curious to watch what was happening on the platform, and finding it very odd that Branham required all eyes to be closed during a "healing", Wilbee chose to look.

Curious to watch what was happening on the platform, and finding it very odd that Branham required all eyes to be closed during a "healing", Wilbee chose to look.
I noticed that men were spread throughout the building, ordering people to shut their eyes and bow their heads every time a miracle was about to be performed. I decided I would keep my eyes open and see just was going on while other people's eyes were closed.
- A. F. Wilbee
Immediately, three ushers surrounded Wilbee. Wilbee was threatened and told that the "demons" coming out from the people (which he was not allowed to see) would attack him. Branham had told a similar story, claiming that an American newspaper reporter had died of cancer that had been removed from a patient, simply for not believing in the healing.
Threats turned into violence when Wilbee left the arena. Several of Branham's angry followers surrounded him and threatened to "half-kill" (beat him half to death). Provincial Police safely escorted Wilbee from Branham's angry followers.
Mr. Wilbee said an angry mob of people surrounded him outside the arena, and he was pursued by a man who threatened to "half-kill" him.
