In some versions of William Branham's stage persona, Branham claimed to have been a Baptist minister, avoiding the "Pentecostal Call" at the request of his mother-in-law.  According to those versions of his "Life Story" accounts, Branham was a "Baptist minister" ordained by Ku Klux Klan leader Roy E. Davis in what Branham claimed to be a "Baptist church".  Historical data, however, proves that those versions of Branham's biography are fictitious and appear to be used as an invention by Branham to appeal to the sympathy of his audience.
