Hand Vibrations

In some versions of his stage persona, and just like Oral Roberts,[1] William Branham claimed to have vibrating hands[2] to "detect germs".[3]  This "germ detecting vibration" was used in the late 1940s and 1950s, even on patients having diseases where germs were not involved such as cancer.  Before this stage persona, however, Branham claimed to have the ability to diagnose diseases with a hand that changed color.[4] If his hand turned red or purple, the person was soon to receive their healing.  If his hands remained flesh-colored, however, the person seeking healing had just made a wasted trip.

Cancer patients were present.  Mr. Branham touched the base of the palm of the hand of a cancer patient.  Mr. Branham looked for a red and purple color on the palm after touch to indicate improved health.  If no such color appeared on the patient, there was little hope, he said.[5]

Branham wore expensive Longines luxury watches, which he claimed to be brand-new in 1947[6] and in 1950.[7]  According to Branham his hand vibrations were the reason that he wore luxury watches.
