National States' Rights Party

The National States Rights Party was a white supremacist political organization formed in 1958 from a merger of segregationist, antisemitic, Klan-connected, and States' Rights factions, with early roots and national headquarters in Jeffersonville, Indiana, before moving to Birmingham in 1960; its presence in Branham's hometown during the same period William Branham faced federal tax scrutiny places Jeffersonville within a wider network of mid-century far-right organizing, segregationist politics, Christian antisemitism, and white supremacist activism that overlapped geographically and ideologically with the religious world surrounding Branham's Message movement.

The National States Rights Party (NSRP) was a white-supremacy political party that was officially formed in July, 1958, in Knoxville, TN [1] by Edward Reed Fields and Jesse Benjamin Stoner.  The group originally began in Jeffersonville, Indiana.[2]  It was the result of the combination of the United White Party (UWP) with the formerly unorganized "States Righters" [3] - remnants of segregationist and anti-Semitic organizations such as the Christian Anti-Jewish Party, Columbians, small Ku Klux Klan groups, and representatives of the States Rights Party. [4] From its formation in 1958 until June 1960, the NSRP was headquartered in Jeffersonville, IN, with national offices at Post Office Box 261, Jeffersonville, IN. [5] In 1960, the headquarters moved to Birmingham, AL. Coincidently, it was during the time that the NSRP was headquartered in Jeffersonville, IN, that William Branham was investigated for tax fraud.
