The Last Generation
During his Latter Rain sermon in March of 1960 (60-0303), William Branham started claiming that the End of Days would come to this, what he called the "final", generation. According to the doomsday prediction given by this version of his stage persona, those listening to him would witness the climax of his "Rapture Theology" before another generation of people on the Earth. In prior versions of his stage persona, Branham believed that it might happen during the current generation. The 1960 and later versions were certain.

Look at this teen-age insane! Why, we had a…I told you the other day, they was taking an analysis there of the schools in Arizona where I live, and eighty percent of the children in school is mentally retarded. What will their children be? We can’t have another generation. We’re at the end. Jesus said these things would come.

Branham's doomsday predictions, the most common of which was the year 1977, used specific time markers. Not only was the End of Days to occur before the next generation of people, but also before his own death. Branham also claimed that "[he]'d have a part, before [he] die[d], of getting Israel back to the Lord." (61-0730M). These time markers were (loosely) based on his own numbering system, which designated the years from 1933 to 1977 as the final "age" before the "Jubilee", referring to the Jubilees of ancient Jewish tradition. His listeners at that time were the final generation of people to witness the End of Days before the total destruction that he predicted to come before or during the year of 1977.
Now, counting the time, we find that we have exactly (listen) seventeen years left, and we will have the same span of time given to us, as God dealing with us in the power of the Holy Spirit, since a.d. 33 until 1977. The same span of time, of nineteen hundred and fifty-four years, God deals with us the same as He did with the Jews. How about that! Now, mark down in your book, a little Scripture here I want to give you. Leviticus 25, beginning with the 8th verse. God called a jubilee, every forty-ninth year. The fiftieth year was the jubilee. We know that. We understand that. From the first jubilee, of Leviticus 25:8, in 1977 will be the seventieth jubilee, making exactly three thousand four hundred and thirty years. Jubilee, means, "The going up! The release!"
