Psychokinesis

Psychokinesis, the claimed ability to move objects by mental power, normally belongs to occult, science-fiction, and horror categories rather than historic Christian teaching, yet it appeared in the early stage persona of William Branham during the Latter Rain era, when Branham connected extraordinary supernatural power with faith and reportedly attempted to teach revival leaders how to make objects move by belief; the surviving example of Branham challenging a woman to make a suspended bracelet move, stop, and change direction illustrates how his healing-revival message could blur biblical faith, occult-like power claims, spectacle, and the wider Latter Rain pursuit of extraordinary manifestations.

Psychokinesis is the supposed ability to move objects using one's mind, the subject matter for many science-fiction and horror movies, but not usually within the precepts of Christianity.  Most Christians consider the act to be a practice of the occult,[1] though it still remains in the category of fiction.[2]

Psychokinesis, however, was a significant part of William Branham's stage persona during the early years of Latter Rain.  In fact, Branham attempted to teach the leaders of Latter Rain how to move objects with thier mind.[3]  Most recordings and transcripts from that version of his stage persona appear to be either missing or edited,[4] and only one instance of Branham explaining Psychokinesis remains with public access:

Branham, William. 1947, April 12. Faith Is The Substance (47-0412). "And I said, "Now, if you believe with all your heart, and you prove to me now that you've got faith… Now, you look right directly at that bracelet," and it hanging there in mid-air, "and you make that bracelet swing around and around in the room. Then you make it swing back and forth in the room, and then stop it, and I'll believe you have faith." She said, "Oh, Brother Branham," said, "my, why ask me something like that?" I said, "I wanted to see if you had faith." I said, "Jesus said, 'All things are possible if you believe.'"
